Working with Generali
A strategic lever
Human resources are a strategic lever of success. The complexity of a Group that operates in over 40 countries requires the support of employees that are competent, proactive, dynamic, flexible, transparent, loyal and capable of working as a team, often made up of international members.
Development and specific careers
It is Generali’s policy to develop its managers by providing multi-functional and multicultural training and managerial experiences on both a local and international basis. Nevertheless, Generali will recruit new resources from the market, if necessary. Generali will hire those top-ranking officials who have developed their managerial skills in different working environments and cultural backgrounds and who will contribute to the enhancement of our organization’s managerial processes.
Managing change
Both financial sector consolidation and the reengineering of key business processes have been underway for some time now, resulting in an increasingly competitive market. Faced with the challenge of generating greater shareholder value, Generali has embraced this changing scenario by focusing on the streamlining of operating units and on the concentration of key business support activities into specialized units. The entire process is managed by the Corporate Centre whose task is to establish strategic guidelines and to ensure that they are implemented. Our senior and junior managers must be in a position to manage this change, because the success of our organization depends on their managerial skills in adapting to this new environment.
Working as a team in a multicultural reality
Our managers cooperate in working groups to achieve corporate targets. Teams may either be national or international and may involve different business areas, thereby achieving full scale inter-functionality.
The Group’s international stature also clearly emerges from the deployment of its management: in European markets, most managers are local, while in the Corporate Centre there are managers from Ireland, Germany, France and Belgium.
Trust in the young
Women and men recruited by the Group have a flexible mentality, open to innovation and change. Our women and men want to grow in a company whose aim is to be among the most dynamic in the sector. Generali has faith in young people and is prepared to invest in their growth and development.
Dynamism and rapid reaction
Working for Generali means being dynamic, prompt, curious and willing to experiment with new solutions. It is this proactive mentality that generates innovative ideas. Dynamism and prompt decision making come in tandem with flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
Self responsibility
Every person in Generali is required to be self responsible. Every person is empowered to make his or her own decisions at his or her organizational level, accepting the rewards and consequences that come with that decision. Mistakes, as long as not repeated, are allowed and one should learn from them.
Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship, the ability to invent solutions and to pursue them with determination always bearing in mind the good of the team, as well as proactivity are factors that distinguish our Group. An individualistic approach is not rewarding: to operate with entrepreneurship means knowing one’s colleagues and fellow workers and being able to share ideas, projects and challenges.
