Generali China
Generali China is a joint-venture between Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. (Generali) and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). In 2007, Generali China celebrated its 5th anniversary operating in China.
Generali China Life was first approved for establishment by China Insurance Regulatory Commission on 15th January 2002, (making it the first Sino-foreign joint-venture insurance company approved for operation by the Chinese authorities after China joined the World Trade Organization).
To date, Generali China Life has set up branches and operations in Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Shenzhen. New branches are to open in Chengdu and Shenyang shortly.
In 2007, Generali China Insurance obtained the approval to commence operations as a non-life insurance company. This made Generali the first company in China to operate in both the life and P&C markets.
