Generali is the market leader in Italy and Assicurazioni Generali, founded in 1831 in Trieste, is the Group’s Parent and principal operating Company. Generali is the largest corporation in Italy.

Today the Generali Group operates in 68 countries through 484 subsidiaries. It employs over 85,000 employees worldwide. It is one of the leader insurance groups in Europe, with a 2009 total premium income of £á 70.5 billions.
At 31st December 2008, market capitalization was £á 27,483.1 million, confirming Assicurazioni Generali¡¦s position among the major European insurers by market capitalization. The Group is ranked as the 34th largest company in the world measured by revenues in the 2008 Fortune 500 It has over 60 millions clients worldwide. The Generali Group has over £á 300 billions of assets under management.
